Colour Friday in Southbourne 🌈

On Friday 27th November, while the big brands are shouting about Black Friday deals, Southbourne is doing things differently. 💛

Instead of countdown timers and flash sales, we're celebrating the independent shops, cafes and businesses that make Southbourne Grove such a special place to shop. And this Christmas, we'd love you to join us.

What is Colour Friday?

Colour Friday is a national campaign from Holly & Co, created to celebrate small businesses as a colourful alternative to Black Friday. Rather than competing on discounts, it's about choosing to shop small, supporting the people behind the businesses, and buying gifts that are chosen with care.

This year, for the first time, Southbourne is joining in.

Why shopping local matters this Christmas

Brits are expected to spend a record £93.76 billion over the six weeks of Christmas, with almost £12 billion of that on gifts alone.

So imagine if more of that went to the people right here on our high street.

  • Every £10 spent locally can be worth up to £50 to the local economy. Money spent with independent businesses keeps circulating in the community.

  • Small businesses employ 16.9 million people across the UK. They're the backbone of our high streets.

  • On Southbourne Grove, the person behind the counter is usually the person who started the business. When you shop here, you're supporting a real person, their family and their dream.

No flash sales, just great shops

Many of our independents won't be running Black Friday discounts, and that's the point. Their prices are fair all year round, and what you get on Southbourne Grove is worth so much more than a percentage off.

Think expert advice, beautiful gift wrapping, products you won't find anywhere else, and the kind of service that comes from people who genuinely love what they do.

Southbourne’s traders have something for everyone, and if you want your Christmas shopping to feel that touch more personal, and without the big brand deals and names attached, support local businesses on the 27th November for Colour Friday!
